Antonio Carlos Zuniga
June 10, 1954 - May 29, 2018

Tony Zuniga (63) died suddenly and unexpectedly on May 29, 2018 in Spring, Texas. Loving father of Christopher; Former husband of Jacqueline; Cherished son of the late Refugio and Antonio Zuniga; Beloved brother of Irma Pena and Carmen Zuniga; Loving uncle of Jessie, Rosie and Vickie; Brother-in-law of Ray Pena. Born in El Paso in 1954, Tony never lost his love for his native city. He especially loved the local mountains where he developed his running skills from a very early age. His athletic ability was recognized early on and he was awarded an athletics scholarship by UTEP, after finishing High School. While at his beloved UTEP, he was a member of the College's highly regarded and award-winning cross-country tack team. He became an All American when his team became NCAA champions in 1975 and 1976. He was very proud to later be inducted into both his High School and College's Halls of Fame in recognition of his sporting achievements. Tony also obtained a degree in Communications from UTEP. Today's career path was quite diverse. After College, he worked as a photographer for The Chamber of Commerce, San Antonio. This was followed by his love of travel and adventure leading him to work as a track coach in Saudi Arabia. He subsequently went on to work for Continental Airlines and latterly, UPS. Tony was a very proud American who loved his country dearly. He felt privileged to serve his country during the Gulf War and served honorably in the Air Force during Operation Desert Shield.

Special Instructions/Comments: The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
