Malinda Bryan Lopez, 64, peacefully passed away at home on February 24, 2018 in the presence of family after a hard fought battle to cancer.
Malinda was born in Houston to parents Harold Dean and Rosabelle Florine Scott, and younger sibling of Harold Ray, on August 12, 1953. She went to high school at Sam Houston High School and graduated in 1971. After earning an associates degree from the University of Houston, she pursued a career in nursing. Her passion for helping other people as well as her selfless attitude gave way to successful stint in nursing prior to taking on Administration roles at area clinics. Her friendly and outgoing personality also earned her some very special friendships that she truly cherished to the very end.
While perfecting the role of single mother, "Mimi" met and fell in love with Jesse Lopez, whom she later married in May of 1986. When she wasn't spending time with friends and family, she enjoyed reading and spoiling her dogs. Malinda was a devout Christian and an proud grandmother, both of which extended her life allowing family and friends an opportunity to enjoy her a little bit longer.
Malinda is survived by her husband Jesse (Jay) of 31 years, son Kevin, granddaughter Olivia, brother Harold R Scott, and assorted family. Malinda is preceded in death by her parents, Harold D and Florine.
We will be celebrating her life with a Memorial service to be held at Addison Funeral Home on March 10, 2018 at 12:00 pm. The Addison family and staff extend their condolences to the Lopez family.
