James J Simeck
August 26, 1928 - February 15, 2018

James Joseph Simeck, 89, of Magnolia, Texas, formerly of Endwell, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 15, 2018.

Jim was born on August 26, 1928 in Erie, PA. He graduated from Binghamton North Senior High School in 1946. In 1948 he married his childhood sweetheart and their 3 children were born in Binghamton.

Jim worked for Coca Cola in Binghamton before beginning a 35-year career with New York Telephone Co. in Binghamton and Albany. He started as a cable splicer’s helper and retired in 1983 as Business Sales Manager. He then worked as a communications consultant at Binghamton University for several years.

Jim enjoyed fishing, golfing, skiing, woodworking, coin collecting and discussing politics. He loved to putter in his workshop making and fixing – or unfixing as the situation dictated. He was a real character who loved to joke, sing and laugh. His greatest pride and joy came from his family and his tough yet gentle spirit will live on through them.

James is survived by sister Charlene Lasky of Endwell, brother Joseph Simeck of Johnson City, son Jim Simeck and his wife Jody of Lincoln, NE, daughter Ellen Greene and husband Rick of Lakewood, PA, daughter Marie Norgeot and husband Pete of Magnolia, TX; 7 grand children, JD (Andrea) Simeck, Josie Simeck, Jenny (Dave) Dyson, Morgan (Becca Rae) Greene, Michelle (Brett) Hopkins, Nicky (Nicole) Portela, Casey Portela; 4 step-grandchildren David Greene, Cynthia (Steve) Henderson, Peter Norgeot, Emily Norgeot; 12 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and friends.

He is preceeded in death by his wife of almost 70 years, Josie; parents John and Helen Simeck, sister and brother-in-law Joanie & Tony Ruffo, brother and sister-in-law Raymond & Lena Simeck, sister-in-law Anita Simeck.

The family extends sincerest thanks to Mohamed & Gabriela at Olive Grove Assisted Living in Magnolia. We are grateful for the devotion, compassion, love and support they provided to Jim & Josie, and to all the family. The family also thanks Miss Wanda Simmons for her loving care.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests memorial contributions be directed to the Stroke Support Group, c/o Sue Mayes, 915 Hooper Rd, Endwell, NY 13760.

Special Instructions/Comments: The Addison family and staff at Addison Funeral Home extend their condolences to James' family and friends.
