Dortha "Dot" Dawdy, 95, passed from this life on May 18, 2017, in Spring, Texas.
Dortha was born in Idalou, Texas, on April 28, 1922. She was the first-born daughter of Ennis and Lessie Wood. She graduated from Idalou High School and attended Texas Technological College for one year before marrying A.L. "Bink" Dawdy, also an Idalou High School graduate, in 1941. They were married 54 years, living 40 years in Los Angeles, California, before moving to Arlington, Texas, to be closer to Dot's parents who were in failing health.
A loving Elder's wife, homemaker and mother, Dot was at her happiest when at home taking care of her family or when serving in various church activities. She exemplified a "servant heart" throughout her life, showing hospitality to visiting preachers, missionaries and children from various Christian children's home; and, by teaching numerous ladies' and children's Bible classes.
Dot was preceded in death by her parents, Ennis and Lessie Wood and husband, A.L. "Bink" Dawdy. She is survived by her children, Michael Dawdy of Glendale, California and Kay Dawdy of The Woodlands, Texas; sister, Thelda Sneed of Jacksonville, Texas; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
