MAYDELL P. SMITH, 83, of Meridian, MS, and currently Spring, TX, passed away on June 22, 2010 after a courageous battle with an infection. Maydell was born in Noxapater, MS, on February 8, 1927 to the late Tom and Effie Price. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Gene Smith and Connie Langford, father of her 3 girls and many brothers and sisters. Maydell is survived by her three daughters; Sherry Ross of Edmond, OK, Rita Langford of Bentonville, AR. and Donna Gutierrez and her husband Lonnie of Spring, TX; her step-children, Tim Smith of Meridian, MS and Kim Delaney of New Orleans, LA. Maydell is also survived by her seven grandchildren; Jason Covert and Shannon Covert of Edmond, OK, Jennifer Covert of Edmond, OK, Kelly Tolar and her husband Trey, of Tomball, TX, Matthew Harris and his wife Chauncy of Oklahoma City, OK, Heather Dumas of Los Angeles, CA, Derek Dumas of Amarillo, TX and Chelsea Dry of Bentonville, AR, her 3 step-grandchildren, Michael Gutierrez, Lionel Gutierrez, and Mark Gutierrez, along with her five great grandchildren; Grace Harris, Miles Covert, Allie Tolar, Ashton Tolar, and Landon Muse, as well as numerous friends & relatives. Maydell worked until she was 78 years old as a beautician in her own salon in Meridian, MS. Maydell was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and she was devoted to all of her family and friends.
